These are rational reasons for intending to lose weight.
     * I know I'd feel better
     * My spouse/parents/SO etc wants me to lose weight
     * I could save some money if I lose weight
     * I read where you will probably live longer if you lose weight
     *  My friends ride me about losing weight
     *  It's just time for a change

NOT GOOD ENOUGH!  You might chatter off all those and more like them -- and you still wouldn't WANT to lose weight.  You know you really want to lose weight when something like these is true:
     * My doctor said I will die in a year if I don't lose weight.
     *  My doctor said he is going to cut off both my feet if I don't lose weight and get the diabetes under control
     *  My spouse or SO said he/she would leave me if I don't lose weight.  (Anyone who would leave for that - let 'em; on the other hand if it gets you acting, use it!)
     *  I'm sure I keep getting passed over for promotion because of my weight (Yeah, I know that's wrong, you know it's wrong, but you and I both know it happens)
     *  My kids are starting to puff up and I don't want them to be miserable like I've been.
     *  I've always wanted to back pack across the country but if I tried it like this, I'd die.
     *  I'm just sick and tired of difficulty finding clothes and needing a new, larger ward robe every few months.
     * I'm sick and tired of just watching others have fun in the pool because I'm embarrassed to wear a bathing suit.
     *  I'm sick and tired of getting out of breath when I try to play with the kids.
     *  I'm sick and tired of wondering if my shirt is pulled up and showing my gut to everyone I pass.
     *  Etc., etc.
